Biographical / Historical

Eva Soroka Uzych was an educator and Ukrainian American community activist in the Philadelphia area. She was born on June 4, 1921 in Philadelphia to Ukrainian parents who ran a grocery store in Chester, Pa. She earned a B.S. from West Chester State Teachers College, and a master's degree in education at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania, and taught at Eddystone High School. She was active in numerous Ukrainian American community institutions, including St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Chester, Pa., the Ukrainian American National Home, the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, and the Ukrainian Youth League. She died in May, 2016.
