Scope and Contents

This collection contains administrative records of the office of Archbishop Ioan (Teodorovych) during the early years of his leadership of the American Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA. It primarily consists of correspondence with clergy and parishes, as well as some official forms and records (e.g. Prohibition-era sacramental wine documentation).

Custodial History

Obtained from Luba Lewytzkyj, who obtained them from her father, Fr. Volodymyr Lewytzkyj. He likely obtained them from Metropolitan Ioan, for whom he was personal secretary and an editor of the newspaper "Dnipro".

A number of collections at the Ukrainian History and Education Center Archives overlap in time and content with this collection, including the records of the AUOCUSA offices of the Secretary and Treasurer, and the Fr. Gregory Chomicky papers.
