Contains audio of a telephone oral history interview, video and audio recording of a subsequent in person interview, primarily regarding his experiences in the 1930s and the Holodomor. Also includes nine pages of holograph reminiscences, and various ephemera.

Biographical / Historical

Michael Mandybur (Михайло Мандибур) was born in 1922 in the village of Barashi in Zhytomyr oblast' of the Ukrainian SSR. He survived the Holodomor of the 1930s, though two of his siblings died. He and his parents managed to escape to Poland. He studied chemistry and engineering while a Displaced Person in Germany, then immigrated with his family to the Philadelphia area in 1955. He worked as an engineer for various military contractors, including the Electric Boat Company in Groton, Connecticut.
