Biographical / Historical
Konstantyn Szonk-Rusych was a Ukrainian American enamel artist and art historian. He was born in 1915 in Zhytomyr, Ukraine (then the Russian Empire). In the late 1930s, he studied cinematography at the Kyiv Film Studio. During the Second World War, he was a displaced person and resettled in the United States in 1949. In addition to his enamel work, he collected and researched ancient Ukrainian art, and wrote and published several works on art history, as well as the art magazine "Nash Litopys".
